Shrink film is a polyethylene film that shrinks tightly around a product when heat is applied. It holds bottles and box groups together, protects the product from dust, moisture and tampering, and gives it a neat, glossy appearance.
We produce tube and sheet film in widths and thicknesses suited to your product dimensions and machine.
Tube or sheet shrink film?
| Requirement | Tube form | Sheet form |
|---|---|---|
| Packaging format | Tubular film into which a group of products is placed | Single-layer film wrapped around the product |
| Example use | Bottles, groups of boxes or suitable pallet covers | Furniture, panels and irregular industrial products |
| Size information | Group circumference, height and sealing method | Circumference to be wrapped, film width and sealing/overlap allowance |
| Equipment information | Heat tunnel or the heat system used | Heat application and sealing method |
Choose the film with the product’s heat sensitivity and the machine’s operating method in mind. Check print positioning and seal points on a sample after shrinking. For pallet wrapping without heat, see stretch film; for covering only, explore PE cover film.

Questions
Frequently asked questions about Shrink Film
What is shrink film and how does it work?
Shrink film is polyethylene (LDPE) film that shrinks when heated. It is placed over or wrapped around the product, then heated in a shrink tunnel, a hood machine or with a heat gun. The film shrinks to the shape of the product, holds items tightly together and protects them from dust, moisture and tampering.
What types of shrink film are there?
Three forms are common: tubular shrink film, centre-fold (half-tube) shrink film open on one edge, and single-layer shrink film sheet. Tube and centre-fold films are used to group series products such as bottles and boxes; sheet film for furniture, panels and wide items.
Should I use shrink film or stretch film?
Stretch film wraps by stretching, needs no heat and is mostly used to secure pallets. Shrink film wraps by shrinking with heat, giving a tighter, neater and clearer package. Choose shrink film when product grouping, shelf appearance and tamper protection matter, and stretch film to secure pallet loads.
Do I need a heat machine for shrink film?
Shrinking needs heat, but a big investment is not essential. A heat gun is enough for small runs; for regular production, a hood shrink machine or a shrink tunnel improves efficiency. The film width and thickness are chosen to suit your method.
