The film width is determined according to the product circumference and the sealing allowance. For delicate coatings and surfaces, assess the effect of the applied heat using a sample; corners may need additional protection.

Do not choose the film width based only on one face of the product: consider the circumference to be wrapped, overlap and sealing area together. On a photo of the furniture panel, mark the wrapping direction and sealing point. Check the surface, coating and corners on the actual product after applying heat. Shrink film tube is a separate option for jobs that require a sleeve format.

What is the difference between shrink film sheet and shrink film tube?
Shrink film tube is in sleeve form; the product is placed inside it, and it is generally used for series of products in the same size. Shrink film sheet comes as a single layer and is wrapped around the product, making it more flexible for items of different sizes, or for wide or irregular products. Sheet film is more common for large items such as furniture and panels, while tube film is more common for grouping bottles and boxes.
Why is shrink film sheet used for furniture packaging?
Shrink film sheet shrinks with heat to fit the shape of the furniture and covers its entire surface. This protects the product from dust and moisture during transport and storage, reduces the risk of scratches and keeps the packaging from loosening in transit. As the width and thickness are made to order, large items such as tables, cabinets, panels and doors can be wrapped in one piece of film.
What thickness of shrink film sheet do I need?
We make shrink film in thicknesses from 20–200 microns, to order. As a general guide, 25–40 microns is preferred for books and light groups of boxes, 50–80 microns for furniture and panels, and 80 microns and above for heavy industrial parts and pallet covers. Thicker film is more resistant to impact and punctures; tell us about your product and we can choose the right thickness together.
How is shrink film sheet applied, and do I need a machine?
The film is wrapped around the product, the joins are overlapped and heat is applied. For large products in small quantities, a heat gun is sufficient; for series production, a hooded shrink machine or shrink tunnel is used. Applying heat evenly across the film gives a smooth, tight finish.
How is the width of shrink film sheet determined?
