Hand Stretch Film

Hand stretch film is a flexible LLDPE film made for wrapping pallets and carton groups by hand. As the film stretches, it clings to itself; without tape or adhesive, it brings the load together into a single block. It helps prevent products from tipping over or shifting and protects them from dust and moisture during transport and storage. It is a practical solution for warehouses without wrapping machines, small businesses and irregularly shaped loads.

We make stretch film in custom thicknesses from 9–35 microns; the right choice depends on the load’s weight and how sharp its corners are. As a general guide, 17 microns is used for light cartons and small packages, 20 microns for standard pallet wrapping, and 23 microns and above for heavy loads with sharp corners. Thinner film is more economical; thicker film offers better resistance to punctures and tears. Tell us about your load and we will help choose the right thickness.

Hand stretch film comes in light rolls for manual use and is stretched by hand during wrapping. Machine stretch film comes in heavier rolls for pallet wrapping machines; the machine’s pre-stretch system stretches it much further, so the same load can be wrapped with less film. Hand stretch film is suitable if you wrap a few pallets a day, while machine stretch film is better for regular, high-volume wrapping.

Yes. We make hand stretch film in any width from 10 cm to 50 cm. Narrow widths such as 10–20 cm are ideal for wrapping pipes, profiles, cables and small carton groups, and are easy to use by hand. Yes; we make it in clear, white and coloured options. Clear film lets labels and barcodes be read through the wrap. Black and other coloured films provide privacy for shipments whose contents need to be concealed, and help you distinguish products, customers or shipments in the warehouse.

The main factors are thickness, width, roll weight, colour and order quantity. As thickness and width increase, each roll holds more film and therefore costs more. The biggest saving is avoiding a film that is thicker than your load requires. Store the rolls in their packaging in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. High temperatures and prolonged exposure to sunlight can weaken the film’s cling and stretch. Protect the roll edges from impacts too; dented or nicked edges can cause the film to tear during wrapping.
